Emblems and Difficulty
I was reading a post made by Saresa recently on the topic of the emblem changes and as I have had a couple people pick up an interest in what I think about the whole change, I thought I’d make a direct response to Saresa’s post and give a bit of my insight.
3.2 is getting rid of all the emblems except for only Conquest. There is a good reason for this but one misunderstanding is that this only benefits terrible players who do not have the ability or time to hammer through Ulduar encounters.
I think this was moreso a movement to help a new player out. When I first hit 70 on my Shaman 2.4 had just dropped and basically there were no decent guilds anymore that ran Tier 4 content. Not only did this mean I couldn’t run anything with Andrew, but to get the gear I wanted I had to run pug Karazhan’s and join various bad casual guilds several times just to gear up for the content I wanted to do. I had a really hard time breaking back into the vein and I think Blizzard is trying to help out the new 80 who would have to farm Naxx for a few months, then Ulduar for a few months just to have the gear to participate int he new content that comes out with 3.2.
It really helps out a new 80 and also encourages more and more people to make alts when they normally wouldn’t (I’m considering rerolling to my new warrior when the expansion comes out.)
There was another comment about the difficulty level of the content. I honestly don’t think that the mechanics in wow have gotten very difficult, just that Blizzard has made the scaling in difficulty a lot more fluid from where it was in TBC. You get to move up in difficulty instead of sharp jumps and long plateaus in difficulty. I’m on the hardmodes and Ulduar and even after the nerfs they are about the same difficulty as some of the Sunwell instances. Nothing against you Saresa, I can see where you are coming from though as it simply pushes people to keep improving their gear (and devalues the characters people try to sell lol).
